Ms. Stephanie Lundy, PhD, Executive Director
Stephanie Lundy is a microbiologist and public health researcher with a passion for health equity, scientific mentorship, and translational research. She earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Morehouse School of Medicine, where she investigated the role of circadian rhythms in Chlamydial pathogenesis, laying the groundwork for a career focused on sexually transmitted infections and maternal-child health.
Her academic and research journey has been marked by a deep commitment to advancing diagnostics and surveillance for underserved communities. Stephanie has contributed extensively to the study of Chlamydia trachomatis and Treponema pallidum (syphilis), with publications in leading journals such as Scientific Reports, Microbiology Spectrum, and The New England Journal of Medicine. Her work has explored pathogen genomics, host-pathogen interactions, and vaccine development, helping to illuminate disparities in STI outcomes and inform evidence-based interventions.
During her tenure as an ORISE Fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Stephanie played a key role in the Division of STD Prevention. There, she conducted molecular diagnostics, whole genome sequencing, and assay validation for national studies on congenital syphilis, ocular syphilis, and genital ulcer disease. Her technical contributions helped shape new testing strategies, while her mentorship of undergraduate students advanced the next generation of scientists. Too
